2019 EMMY AWARDS: BEST DRESSED MEN

By  |  0 Comments

The Emmys aren’t one of those awards shows with a reputation for out-there outfits (like the VMAs) or a, shall we say, party-friendly vibe (looking at you, Golden Globes). So you’d be forgiven for not expecting too much from the red carpet, especially when it comes to the guys. But this year, some of the biggest stars in television went ahead and turned it the hell out with some seriously great style. We’re not talking about anything too crazy here—just great tuxes, on-point tailoring, and a willingness to veer just far enough outside of the safe zone and do something genuinely interesting. Here are our best dressed men from 2019 Emmy Awards Red Carpet.

Mahershala Ali

Looking as dapper as ever, the lead actor nominee for True Detective stepped out in a custom-made green jacquard suit crafted of wool mohair, a light green tuxedo shirt, and a black satin bow tie from the Ermenegildo Zegna XXX line, designed by Alessandro Sartori. The accessories were; Bulgari watch, Cartier cufflinks, a cricket lapel pin by Title of Work, and Oliver Peoples sunglasses.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game of Thrones summoned an appropriately regal appearance in a custom Dolce & Gabbana gold dinner jacket with a sweeping shawl collar. The nominee for supporting actor in a drama series (styled by Ilaria Urbinati) also wore footwear by the Italian design team while his accessories included Montblanc cufflinks and an IWC watch.

Kit Harington

The King of the North, Kit Harington, knows more than a thing or two about doing a red carpet dashingly well. Last night was a walk in the park for the Game of Throne’s favourite who bested the best of them in a classic black shawl lapel get-up. The tux of the future: like your regular tux, just hold the bowtie (and add some righteous boots).

Charlie Barnett

Russian Dolls co-star Charlie Barnett and his stylist Adam Ballheim picked a dark, starry tuxedo by Ports 1961 and boots by Giuseppe Zanotti. “It wasn’t flashy and from afar you might think it was just a deep green tuxedo,” Ballheim said. “As you look closer, there’s a nice a little surprise with the star print.”

Sterling K. Brown

The Emmys were a veritable vineyard of winey shades, and Sterling K. Brown and his stylist Naz Meknat turned to Brioni for his claret-colored dinner jacket look. Patent Christian Louboutin lace-ups, an IWC watch and David Yurman cufflinks finished off the look for the best lead actor in a drama nominee.

James Van Der Beek

The current Dancing With the Stars contestant James Van Der Beek was in his custom velvet double-breasted Brioni dinner jacket and evening shirt and bow tie in tonal peachy bellini hues. Suede Christian Louboutin loafers added another plush note and his watch was from IWC.
