FRANSIZ GENÇ YAPIMCI VE DJ TEZ CADEY | RÖPORTAJ
Röportaj: Erhan Dalfidan
Fransız genç yapımcı ve DJ, Tez Cadey henüz 21 yaşında Fransız House müziğin en yeni isimlerinden. Şarkıları melodik, akılda kalıcı ve diğer bir taraftan yürek burkan, aynı anda melankolik, düşünceli ve sadece derin ‘Seve‘ single’ı bizi bu düşüncelere sürekledi. Şarkıdan o kadar heyecanlandım ki hemen kendisine ulaşıp biraz daha yakından tanımak istedim. Keyifli okumalar!
-How and when did you start music?
-Müziğe nasıl ve nerede başladınız?
I started a few years ago. I was 16 years old at the time and I wanted to learn how to dj. I had seen this guy just mixing tracks together. And I thought to myself “This is awesome, I want to try this out!”. Djing looks a lot like story-telling when you think about it. Even if the tracks aren’t yours (when you don’t produce), you manage to bring the crowd into your own universe. At the time turntables were way too expensive for me so instead I went to producing my own songs. And I loved it! I used to play the guitar and piano before that and I think it helped me a lot.
Sadece birkaç yıl önce başladım. 16 yaşındaydım ve dj olmak istiyordum. Bir adamı şarkıları mixlerken görmüştüm ve kendi kendime “Bu harika. Bunu denemem gerek!” diye düşündüm. Parçalar sizin olmasa bile, kalabalıkları kendi evreninize çekebiliyorsunuz. O sıralar “turntable”lar çok pahalıydı. Bende kendi şarkılarımı yaratmaya başladım ve bunu çok sevdim! Daha önceden piyano ve gitar çalmamın da bana çok yardımcı olduğuna inanıyorum.
-I think “Seve” single will be a hit in summer. What do you think about this?
-Bence “Seve” şarkınız yazın hit olacak. Siz ne düşünüyorsunuz?
There’s a french proverb that says: “Il ne faut pas vendre la peau de l’ours avant de l’avoir tué” This applies well here!

-Can you briefly describe one of your work day? What are your processes while creating a song?
-Bize bir iş gününüzü anlatabilir misiniz? Özellikle şarkı yaratırken ki basamaklarınız nelerdir?
I like to start off with a vocal sample, a chord progression or a melody (for a remix for example). Once I have that the rest just flows by itself. It’s actually finding this starting point that takes a lot of time and energy. I’ve spent countless hours just trying to find what to build my tracks around. For “Seve” for example it was the melody that I found first. I also like to work with samples. You can be creative without thinking to much. I usually chop the sample into tiny pieces, then I re-arrange them, blow a different rhythm into them, pitch some notes that are not there to create my own melody. I find it very intuitive .
Vokal sample’yla, akor veya melodiyle başlamayı seviyorum. Sonrası çok kolay geliyor. Asıl vakit vokal başlama noktasını bulmak. Bu basamak bazen saatler alır. Örneğin; “Seve” parçamda ilk melodiyi bulmuştum. Samplelarla çalışmayı da severim. Fazla düşünmeden yaratıcı olabiliyorsunuz. Sampleları genellikle ufak parçalara ayırıp tekrar baştan düzenlerim. Sonra biraz ritimleriyle oynarım ve araya birkaç notada serpiştirdim mi kendi melodimi yaratmış oluyorum. Bu süreçte her şey bence çok sezgisel.
-Do you have any role models for your music career?
Müzik kariyeriniz için bir rol modeliniz var mı?
The band Justice would be my number one inspiration as of how they managed their career and created their own universe. I’m also very fond of Yuksek and Diplo’s approach to music. When it comes to influences I won’t start listing them here because I would surely forget some!
Justice grubu kesinlikle ilk sırada. Kendi kariyerlerini ve evrenlerini yaratmaları bana çok ilham verdi. Yuksek ve Diplo’nun müziğe bakaşı açılarını da çok seviyorum. İlham kaynakalarımı saymaya devam edersem kesinlikle arada birilerini unutucam!
-What should your audience expect from a Tez Cadey stage?
–Dinleyicileriniz Tez Cadey sahnesinden ne beklemeli?
I’m a bit shy when I’m on stage. I don’t lift my hands up or yell to the crowd. It’s just not my thing. I usually concentrate on what I’m doing. For me when it comes to parties the crowd has as much importance as the dj (if not more!). Unfortunately today’s club-scene is all about the dj and I think putting him on a pedestal seems wrong. I much rather prefer being on the same level as the crowd, surrounded by it, than on a stage.
Sahnedeyken biraz utangacımdır. Ellerimi kaldırıp kalabalığa seslenmem. Bu bana göre değil. Sadece işime odaklanırım. Bence bir partide seyirci de en az dj kadar önemli (belki daha da fazla). Ne yazık ki bugünkü kulüplerde her şey djlere bağlı. Ve bence djler seyirciyle aynı seviyede olmalı, bir kürsüde değil.
-And lastly, do you want to say anything for your fans in Turkey?
-Son olarak Türkiye’ de ki hayranlarınız için söylemedik istediğiniz bir şey var mı?
