‘LOUIS DREAM’ BY LARA SAYILGAN IS GOING TO PHOTO LONDON
Istanbul based photographer Lara Sayılgan will participate in Photo London 2026 (14-17 May) alongside her gallery, Vision Art Platform, with her new work titled “Louis Dream.” This marks Sayılgan’s second participation in the fair, where she will present a work inspired by the Gardens of Versailles to art enthusiasts.

Speaking about the piece, Sayılgan said: “In this work, I was inspired by the different species of trees I photographed in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles during my time in Paris. Films about King Louis XIV of France, who commissioned the extraordinary gardens of the palace, also deeply influenced me. While creating the piece, I kept imagining people among the trees and wondering what they might have experienced in such a magnificent place during that era. This work, which I created especially for Photo London and will be exhibiting there for the first time, was produced on a large scale to reflect that same grandeur. Including its glass frame, the piece measures approximately 1.8 meters. The gilded leaves on several of the trees within the work are also a reference to that glorious period.”

Sayılgan also emphasised the importance of large-scale works in fair settings for audience perception, adding: “Alongside this main work, black-and-white photographs taken in the gardens will also be exhibited. In addition, visitors will see other photographs presented in boxes using gilding techniques.”

As one of the United Kingdom’s leading international fairs dedicated to photography and visual arts, Photo London brings together some of the world’s most respected photographers, galleries, curators, and emerging talents each year. Following the VIP Preview on 13 May, the fair will welcome visitors from 14–17 May.
