MODERN ESSENTIALS BY DAVID BECKHAM FOR H&M : INTERVIEW
This march H&M is launching a totally new collection and again in a collaboration with a world famous style icon David Beckham. We have interviewed the design team from Stockholm about this new collection named as Modern Essentials by David Beckham.
How did you decide to collaborate with David Beckham on your Modern Essentials collection? Why David Beckham?
David Beckham is one of the best-dressed men in the world and a fantastic style icon. This collection is a continuation on a long term global partnership with David Beckham that has included several different David Beckham Bodywear collections. This long term global partnership perfectly fits our business idea – Fashion and quality at the best price.
What is the main focus on establishing this collection? Can you describe the evolving of the entire collection by steps? (theme, colors, patterns, fabrics and etc.)
Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham focuses on the important pieces of the season, each updating a men’s classic in fresh fabrics, colors and fits for spring 2015. Key garments include a linen pilot jacket; a white chalk-washed denim jacket; a pale-blue sweatshirt; a stylish linen blazer; a city-slicker polo shirt and the perfect white poplin shirt.
How deep was David Beckham involved in selecting the essential items of the collection? What were his primal responsibilities?
From the very beginning when we started the work on the Bodywear line David has been involved in every step of the process from the design of the products, the fit, the colours and the whole marketing. It has been really exciting to have this close cooperation and David has have contributed enormously to make this the huge success this has become. For the David Beckham Modern Essentials collection, David has been completely involved in selecting his favourites from the collection.
What is the reaction of H&M consumers so far regarding David’s choices from Modern Essentials collection?
We are very pleased with the collection and the outcome of it and we can see that it is very much appreciated by our customers. This is a unique opportunity to offer millions of male fans and our men’s customers a fantastic collection.
We are very familiar with David’s innate and particular sense of style and design. Was it hard working with him this time? How did you guys work it out?
As previously mentioned, we are very proud of this collection and we are very happy with how it turned out. This is a long term collaboration that we are very thrilled and excited about. David Beckham is a fantastic style icon and has contributed enormously to make this happen.
What is it so essential about this collection?
This collaboration offers millions of male fans and H&M’s customers a range of products exclusively selected by one of the most important football players as well as a fantastic style icon. H&M and David Beckham also share the same view of fashion – that fashion is nota matter of price but a desire to express personal style.
