GIVENCHY‘s Spring/Summer 2023 men’s collection transforms archetypal garments and accessories through the artisanal and technological possibilities of the Parisian fashion house.
Highly tailored blazers and coats are constructed from lightweight leather. They are one of many elements that lend the collection a haute couture appeal. Denoting a militaristic sensibility, leather varsity jackets adorn a logo embroidery with a motif identical to the tarot card leg tattoo Matthew Williams has.
Further, camouflage motifs make appearances on Japanese denim, hand-destroyed muslin, and printed nylon. Inspired by subcultural tropes and fluid expressions of community, Matthew Williams looks to musicians and artists who orbit his personal life. Alkaline, the Jamaican dancehall and reggae artist became a source of inspiration for this season. Find here the whole collection.
