As is the case with fashion, the fragrance world is made up of distinct seasons; each packed with new launches to encourage you to ditch your current rotation in favour of something fancier, fresher and altogether better fitting for the months ahead. Here are the coolest perfumes this season.

GUCCI Guilty Pour Homme

A modern take on the signature of ‘Gucci Guilty’ male fragrance that is sensual and unexpected. Gucci Guilty Pour Homme Eau de Parfum belongs in the spicy woody aromatic olfactive family. It offers rose and chili pepper notes, replacing the original fragrance’s pink pepper and Italian lemon notes. It also offers warm red pepper, vinegar and salt top notes, orange blossom absolue, neroli, and French lavender heart notes, with patchouli and cedarwood notes as its base. All these ingredients were in men’s fragrances popular back in the 1970’s. The brand presents a retro take on the original.

DOLCE & GABBANA The One Intense

Dolce & Gabbana The One For Men Eau de Parfum Intense finds its magnetic appeal in a daring fusion of opposites. The fragrance opens with luminous accents of golden neroli essence, fused with fresh cypress and warm, aromatic cardamom. A heart of musky cashmeran grounds the neroli with its woody, spicy vibrations, tinged with calming clary sage and resinous benzoin. The scent then unfolds to an addictive, intoxicating base, as the lightness of neroli withdraws to unveil smoky notes of deep black leather, intertwined with the sweet spiciness of patchouli and refined accords of cistus labdanum.

TOM FORD Oud Wood Intense

Tom Ford Oud Wood Intense introduces new dimensions of oud at its richest, most luxurious saturation. This is a fragrance powerful enough to announce your presence, but one which will only scare off those who are not cool enough to understand. Loud, perhaps. Persistent, certainly. Oud Wood Intense starts out with a hit of spice, then fades into essence of oud with the kind of smoky intensity of burning wood, angelica, cypress, ginger and castoreum.

Valentino Noir Absolu Oud Essence can be worn alone, but has been specially composed to explore layering combinations in the wider world of Valentino fragrances. It opens with top notes of leather and myrtle combined with heart notes of saffron and oud and finishes with deep base notes of cedar wood and sandalwood. Noir Absolu Oud Essence is a rich, woody fragrance, yet with some powdery elements and softly spiced floral notes in a distinctly oriental aroma.

Wonderwood is subtle, spicy and smokey with top notes of bergamot, nutmeg, pepper, and Somalian frankincense. Its heart notes are of cashmeran, gaiac, caraway and cedar wood, with base notes of sandalwood, oud (there it is again) and vetiver. If you like a woody fragrance tempered with a goodly portion of sweetness and spiciness, this one is for you.
